College football: Go with UCLA over Southern Cal in an upset special

Time was, UCLA-Southern Cal often was a battle for the Rose Bowl. Saturday, the Bruins and Trojans play for the right to get drubbed at Oregon in the Pac-12 title game.

USC, which entered the season ranked No. 1 nationally, has three losses (Stanford, Arizona, Oregon) and might have two more. Next week, the Trojans host Notre Dame. A 7-5 season would be disastrous.

Meanwhile, UCLA has been a surprise under new coach Jim Mora Jr. The Bruins upset Nebraska in September and have continued to play well. Freshman quarterback Brett Hundley has thrown 24 touchdown passes.

Southern Cal is favored by 4 1/2 points, but the wrong team is favored. Let's go with UCLA in the upset.
