Larry Fedora has been a rising star in the coaching ranks. He was a likely candidate at OSU last winter, if Mike Gundy had followed through on his dalliances with Tennessee and Arkansas.
And Fedora still could be a hot coach at North Carolina. But he needs to beat East Carolina on Saturday.
And that won't be easy. East Carolina played Virginia Tech tough two weeks ago, before losing 15-10. The Pirates have a veteran quarterback in Shane Carden, who has completed 74.5 percent of his passes.
Meanwhile, North Carolina lost 27-10 to South Carolina in the season opener and was manhandled in the second half last week, losing to Georgia Tech 28-20.
North Carolina has won four straight in the series. Probably would be a good idea for Fedora to make it five.
