PAC-10 BOSS TO MEET WITH BLOUNT
Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott said he will meet with suspended Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount and school officials over possible reinstatement.
Blount was suspended for the season after punching a Boise State player in the aftermath of Oregon’s 19-8 loss to the Broncos in the season opener.
Scott says he’ll meet with Blount, university president Richard Lariviere, athletic director Mike Bellotti and coach Chip Kelly. He didn’t say when the meet will take place.
UCONN QB TO HAVE SURGERY
Connecticut quarterback Cody Endres will have season-ending surgery on his non-throwing shoulder, coach Randy Edsall said.
Endres was hurt early in Saturday’s game against Rutgers when he was driven into the turf. The injury is similar to Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford’s sprained AC joint.
Endres had completed 63.6 percent of his passes for 1,354 yards and six touchdowns after taking over the job in Week 2 against North Carolina.
SEMINOLES QB MIGHT MISS GAME
Quarterback Christian Ponder has bruised ribs and could miss Florida State’s game Saturday at Clemson.
Coach Bobby Bowden said coaches will have to see at practice this week how badly the sore ribs bother Ponder, who is having one of the best seasons of any quarterback in school history.
The Seminoles (4-4, 2-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) need a win over Clemson (5-3, 3-2) to keep alive any hopes of winning their division and sneaking into the ACC title game.
Ponder, who ranks third nationally in total offense per game, was injured early in Saturday’s 45-42 win over North Carolina State, but played despite the pain.
KENTUCKY QB TO PRACTICE
Kentucky coach Rich Brooks said injured quarterback Mike Hartline will return to practice this week for limited activity but is not ready to play.
Hartline hurt his shoulder three weeks ago.
