Sooner football's Trevor Knight Era begins Saturday night in Norman. The new University of Oklahoma quarterback will lead his team against the University of Louisiana-Monroe.
The game at Owen Field is not expected to be close. But if Sooner fans find themselves on the edge of their seats, they at least can be sitting on cushions.
OU President David Boren announced Friday that the university has suspended the new policies restricting what fans can bring into Gaylord Family — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, pending further review.
Which means fans still can bring seat cushions, chair backs (without arm rests) and purses of reasonable size.
“The university does not want to unduly inconvenience fans,” OU said in a news release.
The items banned last season remain banned.
Cowboys are in Houston
Oklahoma State University also opens the season Saturday, but the Cowboys are in Houston, where they play Mississippi State University at the NFL Texans' Reliant Stadium. Kickoff is at 2:30 p.m.
