ABC's broadcasting crew of Sean McDonough and Matt Millen had done their homework for the Florida State-Oklahoma telecast Saturday afternoon, saturating viewers with loads of notes and offbeat material. Fortunately, the nationally televised game was so lopsided, viewers didn't miss out on much game action.
McDonough displayed a dry wit in his friendly banter with Millen, who has shown he is more adept at evaluating players from the broadcast booth than in his tenure as Detroit Lions president.
With OU coach Bob Stoops facing brother Mark, the Florida State defensive coordinator, the announcers delivered several Stoops family stories, including horseplay among the brothers. Mark, whose defense was hammered in the first half, even got much more camera time than Bob.
Other items included OU linebacker Travis Lewis' goal of becoming a chef and quarterback Landry Jones' dream of being a pastor one day.
McDonough offered several strong opinions, including one that Florida State player No. 74 (Cameron Erving) should have been ejected for pushing an OU player on the sideline. Millen noted in his career as a linebacker with the Oakland Raiders, players were encouraged to mess with opposing players on the sideline.
In his weekly segment "Millen' Around," he also spoke about OU's stellar running back tradition and that Greg Pruitt, a Raiders teammate, was his favorite Sooner back. "He had a shirt that said 'Hello' on the front and 'Goodbye' on the back, and he put that into play many, many times."

Leach, who lives in Key West, appeared stiff with his suit and tie in his pregame discussion, and his monotone delivery needs improvement. Let's hope after he gains some experience his colorful quotes will follow.
