Three years ago this month, Todd Graham's Tulsa Golden Hurricane went to South Bend, Ind., and produced one of the greatest moments in TU athletic history. Tulsa stunned Notre Dame 28-27.
Now Graham has moved on, first to Pitt and finally to Arizona State, and Saturday meets the Fighting Irish again, this time as the favored team, by 5 1/2 points, in Arlington, Texas.
Arizona State ran roughshod over Southern Cal last Saturday, costing Lane Kiffin his job, while Notre Dame fell to 3-2 with a 35-21 loss to OU.
ASU remains, along with UCLA, a favorite to win the Pac-12 South Division. The Irish are trying to salvage their season.
But Notre Dame actually looked decent against the Sooners. The Irish ran the ball well, hung tough despite three killer turnovers and played generally tough defense against an OU offense that was extremely clean.
Brian Kelly lost to Graham three years ago in South Bend. I don't think it will happen again. Let's go with Notre Dame in the upset.
