Here is our look at the top games of the 2012 college football season:
1. OKLAHOMA AT WEST VIRGINIA
This is more than a matchup of potential top 5 teams and a conference game. Oklahoma's trip to West Virginia could be the start of a serious national rivalry. The Sooners could deal with extreme weather changes for their Nov. 17 game in Morgantown and it's the main game OU fans have pegged as a worry to put a loss on their record.
2. LSU VS. ALABAMA
What's not to love about a rematch of last season's BCS title game? As long as they score more this time around. Alabama took home the title, but LSU took the top ranking in the preseason coaches' poll.
3. MICHIGAN VS. ALABAMA
The crown jewel of opening weekend and maybe the season. Denard Robinson & Co. take on the Crimson Tide at JerryWorld in Arlington, Texas. Look for Michigan to try to make an early statement in its attempt to defeat the defending national champs.
4. OREGON AT USC
Oregon has three straight BCS appearances and USC is coming off a two-year postseason ban. This is the premier game of the Pac-12 Conference. And don't forget USC is led by Matt Barkley, who turned down the NFL to return for another year with the Trojans. Plus, depending on how their seasons go, they could meet up again for the Pac-12 title game.
5. TCU VS. KANSAS STATE
One of the newbies of the conference vs. the coach with the most experience in the conference. The Big 12 matchup lacks big names, but it's still better conference football than what TCU saw last year.
6. FLORIDA AT FLORIDA STATE
Florida is rebuilding under Will Muschamp and Florida State's Jimbo Fisher has cleaned house, cutting loose the bad seeds of his program. Florida dominated the top college-football era during the Tim Tebow/Urban Meyer era. Now it's the ‘Noles turn, being ranked in the top 10 in most preseason polls while Florida barely cracks the top 25.
7. ARKANSAS VS. LSU
The preseason No. 10 team against the preseason No. 1 team: it's the game of the underrated and possibly overrated. Can Les Miles return his team too dominance again this year despite the loss of Tyrann Mathieu? Can Arkansas go through a smooth season without former coach Bobby Petrino? The last conference game will determine a lot in the minds of college football fans.
8. GEORGIA AT SOUTH CAROLINA
This is a classic run vs. pass game. The return of South Carolina's star running back Marcus Lattimore from a knee injury against Georgia's quarterback, Aaron Murray, who set a school record with 35 touchdown passes in 2011.
9. CLEMSON VS. VIRGINIA TECH
Can Virginia Tech revenge it's troubles against Clemson from last year? The Hokies and the Tigers will meet in the last game of the year. If Clemson's year goes anything like last (after they had a 7-0 start and only two wins in their last six games) then this game is a must see of two mid-tier preseason teams.
10. OHIO STATE VS. NEBRASKA
A couple of years ago, before the Buckeyes turmoil under Jim Tressel and Nebraska's withdrawl from the Big 12, this would have ranked as a higher game. It rounds out the top 10 today because the two Big Ten programs are adjusting their game to return to the top.
