Miami’s quarterback situation is dicey. The Hurricanes are starting a true freshman, Brad Kaaya, Monday night at Louisville.
Expected starter Ryan Williams suffered a season-ending knee injury, and Kaaya beat out Kansas transfer Jake Heaps.
It’s just more trouble for a Miami program that joined the ACC with great fanfare in 2004 but hasn ‘t so much as reached a conference title game.
Louisville is a 31/2-point favorite in its ACC debut. But teams leaving the Big East don’t quickly acclimate to new conferences.
West Virginia is 6-12 in two Big 12 seasons. Pitt went 3-5 in the ACC last season. Syracuse was a solid 4-4. Louisville, with a new coach in Bobby Petrino and without star quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, will have some growing pains, too.
Go with Miami in the upset.
