Keilani Ricketts became the most successful pitcher in Oklahoma history Sunday while helping the Sooners whip Baylor 8-0 in a six-inning, Big 12 softball game in Norman.
Ricketts notched her 18th win of the season and 116th of her career. She passed previous record holder Jennifer Stewart, who had 115 victories over the 1999-2002 seasons.
Ricketts had a perfect game through three innings Sunday but ended up allowing four hits and one walk. She struck out five to help No. 1-ranked OU improve to 34-2 overall and 3-0 in the league.
Lauren Chamberlain and Shelby Pendley homered for the Sooners; Chamberlain's home run was her 18th of the season and 48th for her career. She is tied for fifth most in Big 12 history with former Sooner star Samantha Ricketts, the sister of Keilani.
The Sooners next play 6:30 p.m. Wednesday against North Texas in Norman.
CYCLONES SWEEP COWGIRLS
A sub-. 500 Iowa State team completed a three-game sweep over the Oklahoma State Cowgirls on Sunday. Iowa State came back from a four-run deficit to beat OSU 9-7 before a sparse crowd on a cold day in Ames.
Oklahoma State (24-17 overall, 2-4 Big 12) led 4-0 and 5-4 but failed to maintain those leads against an Iowa State (17-19, 3-3) team that also benefitted from three Cowgirl errors.
OSU plays 7 p.m. Wednesday against Wichita State in Stillwater.
