College softball: OU to host regional, faces Marist in first round

Fordham and Arkansas will also be in Norman. Tickets on sale Monday.

Oklahoma will begin its road back to the Women's College World Series on familiar territory.

The top-ranked Sooners (47-4), who will be the No. 1 overall seed, will host Marist (30-24) at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Norman.

The Sooners and Red Foxes will meet for the first time. Oklahoma is 4-0 record against teams in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The game will be aired on ESPN3.

The Nos. 2 and No. 3 teams also in Oklahoma's regional are Fordham (35-21) and Arkansas (34-18), respectively. Those teams will play at 5 p.m. Friday.

The Sooners hold advantages against both teams, with a 2-0 record against Fordham and a 16-2 record against Arkansas.

Oklahoma State, which dropped its last four games, including three to Oklahoma, finished 30-26. The Cowgirls did not make the postseason.

Tulsa was also chosen for the NCAA Tournament. The Golden Hurricane was assigned to the Lincoln, Neb., regional, where it will play Stanford in a first-round game.

All-session tickets for the Norman Regional are on sale at www.SoonerSports.com and by phone (405) 325-2424 or (800) 456-GoOU. Prices for adult all-session tickets range between $40 and $25. Single-session tickets will not go on sale until the first day of the tournament. Prices will range between $15 and $10 for adults and $8 for youth/OU students/senior citizens.
