No. 12 Oklahoma beat Texas 8-0 in five innings Saturday night, giving it a series win and control of its own destiny in the Big 12 title.

A pair of four-run innings keyed the Sooners’ 17th run-rule victory of the season.

OU’s Whitney Ellis and Paris Townsend hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning, each driving in a pair of runs.

Oklahoma’s Destinee Martinez was 3-3 with a run scored and an RBI, while Georgia Casey was 2-3 with two runs scored at the top of the lineup.

Sophomore Kelsey Stevens (25-7) threw a three-hit shutout, her sixth of the year for the Sooners (34-10, 11-2 Big 12). She struck out seven and walked one.

Baylor holds OSU to three hits

Four home runs, including two by Baylor’s Jordan Strickland, were too much for Oklahoma State as the Cowgirls dropped the final contest of the three-game series to the No. 14 Bears 8-0 in six innings Saturday afternoon at Cowgirl Stadium.

Senior Simone Freeman (19-11) started in the circle for OSU and pitched five innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits and striking out four. Meagan Lively came on in relief in the sixth and threw one inning, allowing one run on two hits while striking out two.

The Cowgirls' three hits — all singles — were registered by Shelby Davis, Ari Morrison and Gessenia DeLaCruz.

Whitney Canion (18-8) got the win for Baylor (32-10, 6-4 Big 12), pitching six innings and striking out 11.

OSU (24-20, 4-9) will return to the diamond Wednesday when it takes on the No. 16 Tulsa Hurricane at 7 p.m. at Cowgirl Stadium.
