College softball: Shelby Pendley slugs two homers, leads OU to victory over Texas

Shelby Pendley had two homers Sunday, helping top-ranked Oklahoma edge No. 6 Texas 5-3 in Big 12 softball before 1,257 fans at McCombs Field.

OU (39-3 overall, 8-1 Big 12) rebounded from Saturday's loss to the Longhorns (39-6, 9-2) behind Pendley, who slugged her 14th and 15th home runs of the season. The Arizona transfer had two RBIs and walked twice.

Brianna Turang added three hits and two RBIs for the Sooners.

Texas never led, but it roughed up OU starting pitcher Keilani Ricketts for three runs on five hits in 61/3 innings. Michelle Gascoigne picked up her second save of the season.

OU plays 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at North Texas in Denton.

COWGIRLS BEAT JAYHAWKS

Oklahoma State managed just four hits, but it made them count in a 3-1 Big 12 softball victory Sunday against Kansas in Stillwater. Erika Campbell and Dre McKee had run-scoring hits for the Cowgirls, who improved to 26-21 overall and 4-8 in the Big 12. Kansas (27-13, 4-5) tied the score 1-1 in the fourth inning, but OSU took the lead for good in the bottom half of the inning.

OSU will host No. 22-ranked Tulsa at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cowgirl Stadium in Stillwater.
