Oklahoma’s softball team set several school records Friday afternoon while sweeping Arkansas-Pine Bluff by a combined 45-1 score at Marita Hynes Stadium in Norman.
The defending NCAA champions run-ruled the Golden Lions 10-0 in the first game and then 35-1 in the nightcap. Both games lasted just five innings as a crowd of 617 watched OU score at will in its first home appearance of the season.
Lauren Chamberlain set the OU and Big 12 record for career home runs, hitting her 62nd in the first game.
The No. 20-ranked Sooners (12-5) set a school record for runs scored in the second game; the previous record was 24 last April against Iowa State.
OU tied a school mark for most hits (24) in the second game. Six doubles, including two by Shelby Pendley, tied a single-game record.
Pendley, who added two home runs in the nightcap, was 4 for 4 at the plate with a school-record 10 RBIs. One of Pendley’s homers was a grand slam.
