College softball: Sooners score 45 runs against Arkansas-Pine Bluff

Lauren Chamberlain and Shelby Pendley led the defending national champions to a doubleheader sweep in their first appearance at home. OU will host Nebraska at noon Saturday.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff (1-8) managed just four hits on the day. OU pitchers Kelsey Stevens, Leslie Miller and Taylor Dewberry combined for 10 strikeouts and just one walk.

OU will continue its homestand with a Saturday doubleheader against Nebraska. The first game begins at noon.


Oklahoma State opened the home portion of its softball schedule on a bad note, losing 4-3 and 8-4 decisions to Nebraska on Friday at Cowgirl Stadium.

OSU (10-7) failed to lead either game as Nebraska pitchers Emily Lockman and Tatum Edwards combined for 12 strikeouts. Edwards hit a grand slam in the fifth inning of the second game to help give the Huskers (11-5) an 8-1 lead.

The Cowgirls continue their homestand Saturday with a doubleheader against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Game 1 is set for a 1 p.m. start.
