DENVER (AP) — Colorado's mountain resorts have had record-setting visits this summer.

The Denver Post reports ( ) that lodging revenues are up about 7 percent this summer compared to last summer. That's according to DestiMetrics, a Denver-based travel research firm.

The firm says that favorable weather and a lack of wildfires have prompted more visits to mountain resorts.

The firm also says that a surge in festivals and special events has boosted summer destination visits.

Leisure spending during the summer is growing at a faster rate than winter revenues. But the warmer months still account for only 30 percent to 40 percent of overall lodging revenues at Colorado's resorts.
