Comanche County man dies in crash Wednesday

A Comanche County man was killed in a crash Wednesday evening, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

ELGIN — A Comanche County man was killed in a crash Wednesday evening, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Robert Dean Welch, 57, was driving north at 5:42 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. Highway 62 just north of Glover Road in Comanche County when his SUV collided with an SUV driven by Rachel Marie Bond, of Elgin, troopers said. Bond, 45, was also headed north at the time of the crash. Troopers don’t know what caused the crash.

Welch, of Elgin, was pronounced dead at the scene. Bond wasn’t injured in the crash.
