Sign up to help clean up

— Volunteers are needed to help with the 17th annual Lake Sweep at Arcadia Lake on Saturday. People will help clean the lake’s shorelines and parks of litter and debris. Check-in begins at 7 a.m. and continues through 8 a.m. at Spring Creek Park, two and a half miles east of Interstate 35 on 15th Street. Trash bags and assignments are given at the registration table. The clean-up event ends at 10 a.m. Volunteers get a T-shirt, brunch and free access into Arcadia Lake for the remainder of the day. People are asked to bring sunscreen, insect repellent and gloves. Sturdy shoes and long pants are preferred. For more information, call 216-7470.

Workshop teaches skills

— The Normtean Public Library, 225 N Webster Ave., will host a half-day seminar, “Entrepreneurship 101,” at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Lowry Room at the library. The program is geared to small-business owners and covers topics including registration and taxes, market research, understanding financial statements and creating a business plan. ‘Dream Your Pitch’ set

Author Ben Arment will host Dream Year Pitch Night in Oklahoma City at 7 p.m. Thursday at SandRidge Energy Auditorium, 123 Rober S Kerr. Arment wrote Dream Year about the power of ideas and entrepreneurship and is hosting events throughout the country this month. The event is open to the public.
