Derby car workshop set

Rebuilding Together OKC will host a workshop on building soapbox derby cars at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at its offices, 730 W Wilshire Blvd., Suite 108.

Participants can pick up tips on car construction from experienced builders.

Rebuilding Together OKC’s 11th annual Construction Derby will be Oct. 5.

Pool readies for pooches

— The ninth annual Norman Community Pooch Pool Party has been set for 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Westwood Water Park, 2400 Westport Drive, just south of Robinson Street off 24th Avenue NW.

Dogs must have current rabies tags to participate.

Chlorine will be removed to protect the dogs’ skin.

No humans will be allowed in the pool.

A winners’ circle ceremony will be at 4 p.m. for categories including best swimmer, cutest swimmer, land lubber, best barker and most attitude.

UCO program marks 11 years

— The University of Central Oklahoma will celebrate 11 years of the Passport UCO program with the opening ceremony of “Passport to Russia” from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday in the Nigh University Center’s Will Rogers Room.

The program will feature piano selections from David Forbat, professor of music at UCO, and artist-in-residence Valery Kuleshov, as well as a selection of regional foods from Russia and Ukraine.

The event is free and open to the public.
