CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — The company at the center of a spill that contaminated drinking water in West Virginia says no further chemicals leaked beyond two already known to have entered the water supply.

The chemical leak on Jan. 9 resulted in a ban on using tap water for most purposes for several days.

The company had been given a deadline on Wednesday to report all chemicals that entered the water supply in the Charleston area. One coal-cleaning agent had been identified from the start of the spill, but state officials said a second was only disclosed to them on Tuesday.

State Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety spokesman Lawrence Messina said Freedom Industries reported no additional chemicals by the 4 p.m. deadline.

The second chemical, also a coal cleaning agent, is believed to be less toxic than the first.
