OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. (AP) — Parkwood Behavioral Health System in Olive Branch has been given state approval to add 20 acute adult psychiatric beds at its mental health facility.
The Mississippi State Department of Health issued a certificate of need for the project this week. Mississippi requires a CON in a process designed to avoid duplication of health care services and control costs.
The behavioral health and chemical dependency center will construct a 12,000-square-foot addition and renovate 750-square-feet of existing space. The project will cost $4.8 million.
Parkwood Behavioral Health System includes a 128-bed inpatient acute and residential care facility, as well as partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs, according to its website.
