With a blue guitar hanging off his shoulder, Dave Grohl ran down a long stage, pumping his arms and revving up the packed crowd at Ford Center on Thursday.

“Lemme hear ya! Lemme hear ya!” screamed the lead singer for Foo Fighters.

And they gave it to him.

The 14-year-old band rocked the center to the core with outstanding work ranging from the passionate “Times Like These,” to the frenetic “Breakout.” Foo Fighters gave an amazing show that rated two thumbs up, based on loudness alone.

Dressed in jeans and a blue T-shirt, Grohl flopped his shoulder-length brown hair and banged his head so much, it looked like it’d fly into the crowd.

Grohl, growling and cussing something about a burger, said he’d play a couple of extra songs to make up for the Oklahoma City show the band had to postpone back in January because of his illness. He promised not to miss another show unless he had another case of “explosive diarrhea.”

At one point, Grohl jumped up on the piano as the band played, “There Goes My Hero.”

Another highlight of the night came when Taylor Hawkins pounded a fine drum solo in the middle of “Stacked Actors.”

“It was bad ... It was extremely mind-altering and highly energetic,” said Matt White of Edmond.

His favorite song and maybe the crowd’s favorite was the energetic “Monkey Wrench,” one of the band’s first hits. A stark contrast to that song was the triangle solo, as well as a song that brought in the violinist, triangle player and all the extra touring members, “Times Like These.”

Some of Foo Fighters’ music demonstrated screaming, thunderous angst but was more hopeful than songs by Nirvana, the Seattle grunge rock band Grohl worked for as a drummer.

Other impressive songs were “Let It Die,” “Ever Long,” “The Best of You,” and the acoustic “Skin and Bones.” For their encore, they performed “One by One.”

It may have taken six months for them to get back to Oklahoma City, but The Foo Fighters gave fans a stellar performance.

I agree as well...horrible review of an outstanding concert. No mention of Year Long Disaster or Supergrass? No mention of the acoustic set on a second stage that dropped from the ceiling? Rami Jaffee from the Wallflowers sitting in on the keyboards? The hilarious night vision camera during the encore break? The cover of The Who's "Young Man Blues" that rocked the house? PLEASE hire someone that actually knows music to do these reviews!!

I completely agree with the last two posters. What a pathetic review of an unbelievable show. This was by far the best rock show I've ever seen in OKC.

You took the words right out of my mouth David. Pathetic review of one of the best concerts I have ever attended. It really is sad when a newspaper sends a rookie, or someone who isn't a fan of a particular band, to write a review. It seems like the author had no idea what the song titles were and perhaps was asking people around him for the titles. Please.....Oklahoman.....please send someone who has a clue next time.

Whoa, I got so fired up there for a minute I forgot to mention that the Foo's set list last night included what I consider to be a tribute to the originators of arena-rock, The Who, with a blistering version of "Young Man Blues". Perhaps lost on anyone younger than 30 in the audience it was incredible to witness. I guess Chris missed that too.

Hey Chris, way to phone in your review of one of the best performances Oklahoma City has ever been treated to. You have done a disservice to your credibility and that of NewsOK with your lackadaisical observations of a great rock machine in action. Were you even in attendance? Were you not inspired? While certainly not a fanboy but more than a casual fan (my first of five Foo Fighters concerts attended was in 1998)I can easily point out numerous errors in your fact gathering...Dave Grohl jumped on the piano at the end of "But, Honestly"...and the encore consisted of three songs; "Big Me", "Generator", and "Best of You". "One by One" is actually the name of the Foos fourth studio album, not the name of the song you were seaching for, which was, incidentally, "All My Life". The Foo Fighters performance was infinitely better than Chris Colberg's review. Don't miss another opportunity to see this band!!!

I have been to many, many concerts over the last 15 years or so, and I have to say that this was one of the best. It was definitely worth the wait. They played for over 2 hours, the crowd was completely into it, and the second stage with all of the musicians together was incredible. Dave Grohl standing on top of the piano, the triangle solo, a violinist...amazing. So glad that I was there for it.

I have seen them in the past and they are incredible live. Would love to have made it.
