KONAWA — A woman was arrested after shots were fired outside a gym in Konawa where a high school basketball game was being held.
Summer Shaw, 27, was arrested on a complaint of firing a gun following an argument with her grandfather, Wayne Shaw, police said.
Konawa Assistant Police Chief Jason Teel said Shaw came to the basketball game just before 7 p.m. Saturday to confront her grandfather about the custody of her two children.
Shaw yelled at and hit her grandfather before onlookers, including the high school principal, who intervened to force Shaw out of the gym, witnesses told police.
Shaw yelled, “I'll just kill you,” before pulling a .22-caliber pistol out of her jacket, which she fired accidentally into the ground, police said. No one was injured.
Some of Shaw's family members then grabbed the gun from her and held her until police arrived.
Teel said Shaw, after being arrested, struggled with police, kicking and spitting on officers.
In addition to the gun, police found 11.5 grams of methamphetamine in Shaw's pocket. She was being held at the Seminole County jail, with bail set at $500,000.
She faces complaints of attempted murder, assault and battery and possession of a controlled substance.
