Contractor claims OSU coach Mike Gundy fired him because he wore an OU shirt

FROM STAFF REPORTS Published: August 12, 2011

The Gundys hired Loveland on the advice of Mike Gundy's parents Ray and Judy Gundy. Loveland had done work on the elder Gundys' home in Midwest City.

Loveland and his attorney, Edward L. White, claim in the suit the Gundys never discussed proper work attire with Loveland and that it was an unfortunate mistake caused when Loveland got dressed in the dark.

“I'm an OSU guy, so this is not a vendetta,” White told the Stillwater News-Press. “This is simply a gentleman who's a small business owner, he depends on his work for his livelihood and he didn't get paid for a job where we think he was unreasonably terminated.”

Loveland could not be immediately reached.

Gundy's attorney, Willie Baker, issued a statement saying, “On behalf of Coach Gundy, while I cannot discuss the specifics of pending litigation, I deny the allegations being made and welcome the opportunity to fully resolve the matter.”
