Lancaster, Texas, was very good to Oklahoma on Saturday.
The Sooners picked up a pair of commitments from the south Dallas suburb within a few hours.
First, senior cornerback Dakota Austin committed to the Sooners on Saturday morning, then 2014 outside linebacker/safety Vontre McQuinnie committed later in the day.
The commitments were first reported by ESPN.com.
Austin (5-foot-11, 167 pounds) visited Nevada and UNLV in the two weekends before his visit to Norman. He also had offers from Tulsa, Indiana, Texas Tech, Utah State and UTEP.
Austin is the Sooners’ 22nd commitment for the 2013 class and the second cornerback, joining Tulsa East Central’s Stanvon Taylor.
Another OU commitment was high on the offer.
Tulsa Washington linebacker Dominique Alexander tweeted about Austin’s decision shortly after it was reported.
“Say what you want on rankings and stuff. But Dakota Austin in Cold. That boy Lockdown. Good Pick Up,” Alexander posted.
Alexander and Austin were at the same OU camp over the summer.
Later in the day, McQuinnie (6-1, 198) became the second commitment of the 2014 class, joining Texas City wide receiver Armanti Foreman.
McQuinnie picked the Sooners offer, his first, earlier in the week and committed during the Sooners’ junior day event Saturday.
