Jerry Ferrara, an actor whose rise to fame coincided with his role as ‘Turtle’ on the HBO show Entourage, announced via Twitter yesterday that the popular television series would be made into a movie.
It’s something that has long been rumored. But official word that the movie was green-lighted revved up the digital airwaves, exciting the show’s massive fanbase.
And among the Entourage faithful, apparently, is Thunder superstar Kevin Durant, who fired off this tweet soon after:
Maybe a bit of an exaggeration from KD, but the point is well taken. He’s pumped that the show, which concluded its eighth and final season in 2011, is being made into a movie.
And from the sounds of it, Durant may have an open invitation to make at least a cameo in the film (shown in the video above).
“I could see Kevin Durant giving my character free-throw help or jump-shooting help for a pick-up basketball game,” Ferrara said.
In its eight seasons, Entourage regularly included celebrities in cameo roles, as the show is based around the personal life of an up-and-coming Hollywood actor. Athletes who have appeared include Lamar Odom, Tom Brady, Phil Mickelson, Steve Nash, Drew Brees, LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Adrian Peterson.
So a Durant cameo is certainly plausible.
“He’s actually been real supportive over the years,” Ferrara said of KD. “He actually visited the set not that long ago and we’d love to have him. We had LeBron, might as well have KD.”
