Country in constant turmoil these past three-plus years

Published: July 28, 2012

Turn on your TV and try to find decent programs to watch. Even with hundreds of channels, that's often hard to do. There are too many shows full of violence and disgusting subject matter. Add the economic woes of our recession to the lack of jobs and the vitriol coming out of Washington during the presidential campaign and I'm surprised there isn't more chaos in our country.

A lot of people seem to have no hope for a better life for themselves or their children. We're on a great downhill slide as a country. Having lived through 15 election cycles as an adult, I've never seen our wonderful country in such constant turmoil as these past three-plus years. Our elections are too long. Each time the rhetoric gets worse. We need strong leadership with a positive message rather than divisiveness from Washington. We need good role models. We need Hollywood and the TV industry to tone down the stuff they're putting out and give us better shows to watch instead of making each movie and TV episode more disgusting and shocking than the last.
