Country musician Bob Wood, 64, dies

Longtime Del City resident and musician Bob Wood died Thursday. He was 64.

Wood owned and operated Del City Music and Woodside Records and Productions, and was a founder and president of the Oklahoma Country Music Association.

Wood was well known for his support of Oklahoma musicians, including Vince Gill, Kevin Welch and Bryon Berline. Berline and Wood were close friends and played together in the 1960s on local Oklahoma City country music shows.

Wood was a member of the Del City Masonic Lodge, Guthrie Consistory, Del City Lions Club, Del City and Midwest City chambers of commerce, and was a Shriner Clown.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carolyn Wood, two daughters, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Southern Baptist Church of Del City with burial at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
