Court clerk asks for same-sex appeal to be expedited

Tulsa County Court Clerk Sally Howe Smith is asking the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to expedite her appeal in support of Oklahoma's definition of marriage as a union of one man and one woman

Tulsa County Court Clerk Sally Howe Smith is asking the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to expedite her appeal in support of Oklahoma's definition of marriage as a union of one man and one woman.

Smith also is asking the Denver-based appeals court to have the same judges who will consider a similar appeal from Utah to consider the Oklahoma case.

Those two steps would "reduce the risk of inconsistent rulings on similar issues" by the appeals court and promote efficiency for the court, attorneys for Smith stated in a filing Friday.
