Cox Communications has announced several changes to its sports programming, providing more programming and grouping all sports channels in a block to make it easier for the viewers to find them.

The Coaches Cabana shows with Barry Switzer for OU and Pat Jones for OSU also will be displayed this season on a four-screen mosaic channel for all televised OU and OSU football games.

For Coaches Cabana, Switzer watches OU games with assorted guests from his cabana behind his house and interacts with fans who also are watching, and Jones watches and comments on OSU games.

The OU channel will be 999 and the OSU channel will be 998 (although Saturday night’s game will be on 997). The game will air on the big screen. Coaches Cabana will air in a small screen at the top on the Cox channel, and the remaining two screens will contain other football games.

“With your arrow key on your remote, highlight over to that screen and you can listen to Barry Switzer talk about the OU game while the OU game happens,” said Bruce Berkinshaw, Cox director of product management.

Because OU has a pay-per-view game Saturday, the OU channel won’t debut until the second week for the Tulsa game on Sept. 6. However, Switzer’s Coaches Cabana show still will air on The Cox Channel (3 and 703).
