ASHLAND _ A sport-utility vehicle ran off a Pittsburg County road, rolled twice and crashed into several trees, killing a Stuart man and critically injuring the driver.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 37-year-old William Gibson died at the scene of the crash about 1:30 a.m. Saturday near Ashland. The driver, 38-year-old Michelle Gibson of Stuart, was taken to a Norman hospital in critical condition with spinal injuries.
The patrol says Michelle Gibson was driving eastbound on Ashland Road when her Ford Explorer ran off the road and went down an embankment. The vehicle overturned twice and struck several trees, pinning both the driver and passenger in the vehicle for more than two hours.
The patrol report says neither were wearing their seat belts.
