Amber Ellison, 28, of Tulsa, was killed in the collision, which occurred about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, said Broken Arrow police Sgt. Ed Ferguson.

Ellison was six months pregnant. Her fetus did not survive, Ferguson said.

No charges have been filed against Benny Lee, 59, of Tulsa, who allegedly ran the stop sign and hit Ellison’s car, Ferguson said. The district attorney will determine if charges are warranted.

Ferguson said Lee was driving about 40 mph when he hit Ellison’s car, which was stopped at an intersection in southwest Broken Arrow.

Witness accounts left “no question” that Lee did not stop at the intersection, Ferguson said.

A medical condition of Lee’s may have contributed to the crash, Ferguson said, but he declined to name the condition or say how it may have affected Lee’s driving. Police do not suspect drug or alcohol use.

Jonathan Ledford, 30, of Tulsa, was driving the car with Ellison in the passenger seat, Ferguson said. Ledford and an 11-month-old toddler, who was riding in a safety seat in the back of the car, were treated and released from a Tulsa hospital.
