Crash near Oklahoma City's Lake Overholser kills driver

A driver whose vehicle went off a bridge and onto an embankment this afternoon at Lake Overholser has died, police said.

The driver's identity was not released by Oklahoma City police.

A caller reported to police about 12:15 p.m. that the driver crashed their car through a fence on the caller's property off Green Meadow Lane before heading toward the lake, police said. The vehicle continued on walking and bicycle trails heading off the Old Route 66 bridge near NW 39 and Canal Road.

Police said it wasn't immediately clear if anyone else was in the car or was hurt. The cause of the wreck remained under investigation this afternoon. has disabled the comments for this article.
