Midwest City apartment fire leaves seven families homeless
Authorities say it is likely that a building in the Eden Cove Apartment complex is a complete loss after a fire Wednesday left seven families homeless.
MIDWEST CITY — A fire Wednesday at an apartment complex left seven families homeless, officials said.
Midwest City fire Maj. David Richardson said a resident of the Eden Cove Apartments, 3826 N Oak Grove, called 911 about 12:35 p.m. to report the fire.

The top floor of the apartment building was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. The building held eight apartment units, one of which was vacant.
“We almost immediately had to go into a defensive attack on it because we could see the roof collapsing,” Richardson said.
One of the apartments collapsed, and the building is likely a total loss because of smoke and water damage downstairs.
“The whole structure is unstable,” Richardson said. “We can't even get an investigator upstairs.”
Firefighters don't know how the fire started. It did an estimated $800,000 in damage.
A spokesman with the Red Cross of Central Oklahoma said the agency is working with the seven displaced families.
No one was injured, authorities said.
