Here’s a recap of the week in metro news.

Crime. Authorities are searching for a man who robbed a Norman bank. State authorities arrest the GEICO cavemen by mistake.

Crime. Police arrest Steven James Brown on complaints he snatched a wallet from an 89-year-old car crash victim. Brown’s chance of being Citizen of the Year is ruined.

Unwelcome surprise. Architects tell Oklahoma County commissioners a new jail will cost nearly $400 million. Everyone at the meeting faints. After coming to, everyone at the meeting cries.

Zoo patrol. A new Oklahoma County sheriff’s substation soon will open at the Oklahoma City Zoo. The zoo’s lions will be forced to stop their meat laundering operation.

Government. The Del City Council votes to investigate Ward 2 City Councilman Bill Giles after allegations of inappropriate behavior arise. The council is nearly unanimous, except for Giles, who voted against the investigation for some reason.

Environment. The Environmental Protection Agency comes down on two Oklahoma City companies for having manure piles that could send runoff into the Oklahoma River. If those triathletes weren’t sick already, they’re sick now.

Fuel. Gas prices drop below $2 at some metro-area stations. Drivers hug one another at the pump.

Weather. The heat wave abates with thunderstorms that knock out power and damage buildings and cars. Thanks, Mother Nature.
