FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) — Justin Garza threw the fourth no-hitter in Cal State Fullerton history, tying a career high by striking out 12 in a 3-0 victory over Cal State Northridge on Friday night.

Garza (5-3) walked three and struck out at least one batter in every inning but the sixth, when he induced a double play after the leadoff man got on because of an error. The sophomore right-hander's no-hitter was the Titans' first since Kirk Saarloos tossed one against Pacific in 2001.

The Matadors nearly broke it up in the seventh inning when Chester Pak hit a pitch to the right side of the infield. Titans first baseman Greg Velazquez made a sliding stab and found Garza covering first to preserve the no-hitter.

J.D. Davis hit two home runs for Cal State Fullerton (30-22), which has won six straight.

Jerry Keel (0-11) took the loss for Cal State Northridge (18-37).
