CTA derailment causes elevated train delays

CHICAGO (AP) — The derailment of a Chicago Transit Authority train caused delays for elevated train service traveling through the Loop business district.

CTA officials say a set of wheels of came off the tracks over Van Buren Street shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday. The derailment caused wood and steel bolts to fall to the ground. There were no reports of injuries.

The derailment interrupted service on the Brown, Green, Purple and Pink lines. Service was partially restored after shifting trains to another track.

CTA officials said inspectors are checking the area of the derailment to determine whether it's safe to restore service.
