In the space of a little more than a minute, beginning five minutes into the second half of Monday's 83-75 loss at Kansas, Ryan Spangler and Cam Clark each picked up their third foul.

The Sooners trailed by two points when Clark picked up his third with 13:59 remaining, but in the more than five minutes with both of Oklahoma's starting forwards on the bench, the Sooners cut the lead by one and took the lead for more than two minutes.

Junior D.J. Bennett came up with a couple of baskets during the stretch. Tyler Neal, who came on for Clark, also hit a 3-pointer during the run to put the Sooners up four with less than 11 minutes to play.

“I thought Tyler and D.J. came in there and really picked up for Cam and Ryan,” Sooners coach Lon Kruger said. “Defensively, I thought they battled. I thought D.J. had maybe as good a stretch as he's had, Tyler knocked down a big shot. Guys made good plays for each other during that time.

“With Ryan in foul trouble and Cam as well, I thought we bought some valuable minutes right there, but we weren't quite able to finish it.”

Oklahoma's bench outscored Kansas' 14-11.

It wasn't until the final minute, but Sooners point guard Jordan Woodard broke the school record for most free throws by a freshman.

The record was previously held by Wayman Tisdale (1983) and Jeff Webster (1991).

Woodard was 1 for 2 from the line to give him 135 free throws this season.
