McCoy compiled four tackles and two sacks, including a vicious hit on Dallas quarterback Tony Romo.
“I represented the D-line and went up to coach and said, ‘Give us an opportunity to go straight at them instead of going sideways on all these stunts,” McCoy said. “I said, ‘If it don't work, it don't work and we'll go back to whatever.' We took advantage.”
LEMON COMES UP BIG IN DEBUT
Former Oklahoma State linebacker Orie Lemon made his NFL debut. Playing on special teams, Lemon recovered a fumbled punt that set up Dallas' go-ahead field late in the first half.
Lemon, who was on Dallas' practice squad all last season, was one of the Cowboys' final cuts again this season but was later signed to the practice squad. It was Lemon's first regular season game to be on the active roster.
COWBOYS HAVE FLAG ISSUES
Dallas was penalized 13 times for 105 yards. Veteran tight end Jason Witten still looks rusty. Witten dropped two more passes, had two false start penalties and failed to make a block that led to Romo being crushed. Dallas right tackle Doug Free was flagged for two false start penalties and holding.
