1. All the Dirt on Gardening

By Martha Stoodley – “Gardening became an interest in the 1970s when I lived next door to horticulture students. Then, as my work and family schedule allowed, I planted flowers, shrubs and a few tomatoes. It wasn’t until retirement that gardening became a passion. I’m making up for lost time, though – gardening like a mad woman as many months of the year as I can.”

What blog is about: Gardening hints and tips

Featured postBooks for Gardeners – late winter reading – Spring garden preparation has begun: seed orders are in, pots are cleaned, leaves are raked and the remaining bits of last fall’s garden will go to the compost pile.

I tried to have a garden last year and in my head I had envisioned this beautiful garden with all the home-grown vegetables I needed for a year — it was amazing! Well, it did not turn out like that at all. I over-watered some, under-watered some and I found out quickly that having a garden is not easy! I need all the books I can get on gardening. - Darla Lindauer

2. Bright Journeys

By Sheila Bright – “A busybody, eavesdropper, snoop, tattle-tale, lollygagger, conversation hog, big-talker, sweet-talker, dawdler, drifter, etc. When I’m not traveling abroad, I bounce along the backroads of Oklahoma searching for some golden story nuggets as a contributor for Oklahoma Today and This Land Press.”

What blog is about - Photos and short commentary about travels

Featured post – Home Tweet Home – “When the tawny bird sang the moon to sleep, the sound stirred the sweetest of dreams.”

As a person that has a passport with no stamp yet, I love the personality of each photo and it was like taking a mini trip. The photography is eye-catching and shows a variety of scenes from other areas of the world. I would love to go to Africa one day! To look at me you might think that I am a city girl who needs her air conditioning and make-up kits and clothes, but I would love to experience life with out all the luxuries and help others on my way.   Darla Lindauer

3. A Nest with a View

By Robin Thomas – “A teacher, a seeker, a biologist, a creator, a little tired and wired. You will find me knitting, sewing, reading, taking photos, making lists or cooking.”

What blog is about: Family, life and pets

Featured post – Lucille Thomas -  “With empty arms and feeling forgotten I was moved to go to the Central Oklahoma Humane Society on a puppy day.”

I love seeing a happy ending and Lucille is so cute! I did try to get a dog one time. My daughter who has a form of autism freaked out! If the dog even looked at her, she would scream and claw at me to get away.  I think we may be close to trying again though. She likes my sister’s dog, but I am a beagle person myself. – Darla Lindauer

4. An unrefined vegan

By Annie Oliverio- “I was in my 30s before I really started to take care of my body.  My motivation back then was purely physical: I wanted to keep my weight under control.  And so I began running and working out, but I was still missing a vital component to my health: diet. My goal is to share what I’ve learned and what I’m still learning by offering simple, delicious and nutritious – “unrefined” recipes that nurture body, brain and conscience.”

What blog is about: Recipes to nurture body, brain and conscience

Featured post – Not-too-Sweet Pear and Parsley Smoothie – “Pear & Parsley sounds like a big American retailer’s idea of a quaint British shop (or should that be shoppe?)”

My mother makes green smoothies for me that are wonderful, it has quite a few things in it, but I know spinach and strawberries are in it. She even gets my kids to drink it when she is watching them by putting it in a cup with a Sippy-cup lid so they can’t see that it is green! Maybe this smoothie will be a new one for us as well. Don’t plan on adding it to a meal though — it is a meal!– Darla Lindauer

5. AxXiom for Liberty

By Kaye Beach – “I have been a full time freedom activist for three years and am a member of the Board of Directors of the Constitutional Alliance-a coalition of individuals and groups committed to preserving the unalienable rights to life, liberty, and property as pronounced in the Declaration of Independence and protected under the Bill of Rights.”

What blog is about: Politics and local news

Featured post – AxXiom for Liberty – “FORT SILL — The small, winged drone quietly soared overhead.”

I heard about this briefly on the news and knew there were some protesters on the subject and wanted to really know what it was about. I believe in our right to privacy, but I also know I have never done anything they would be interested in, unless they want to see me go to work every day and chase kids at night and on weekends.  I think if they did, they might scrap the whole idea, deeming it too boring or too psychotic! 6. Rebekah Loper, Writer

By Rebekah Loper – “I am a “Jill of all trades” – wife, writer, NaNoWriMo Municipal Liaison (chapter head), cat wrangler, and budding urban farmer all wrapped up in one. I prefer the strange, surreal, weird, and fantastical to everyday normality.”

What blog is about: Writings about her life, interests and family

Featured post – Comfortable in My Own Skin – “My mom laid down a hard-and-fast rule: her daughters would not be allowed to wear make-up on a regular basis until they were 15 years old.”

The title of this post drew me in. I have always chosen to wear make-up, because I like to do it and I feel naked with out it! I get my coffee and watch the news during the week or a movie on the weekend while I am doing it. It is a moment of relaxation for me. But I like that she has made her choice based on personal facts and not public opinion. I do not remember being influenced by anyone except my sisters growing up.  I started wearing make-up at 13.– Darla Lindauer

7.Beth Zimmerman

By Beth Zimmerman – “I’m a blogger, a writer, a weaver of words and teller of tales. I’m a transparent, imperfect, and forgiven, follower of Jesus. I am loving, warm, receptive, non-judgmental and real! I am choosing daily gratefulness in a passionate pursuit of abundant joy! My desire is to grow in trust, to share my faith, and to encourage others towards a joyful and abundant life! I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma with my husband (33 years and counting), the youngest of our 4 children (a 23 y.o. who wants to hurry up and finish school so he can go “into all the world”) and a German Shepherd named Lucy.”

What blog is about – “I blog about finding joy … even when life hurts.”

Featured post - Inspiration – “Choose to see the world through grateful eyes. It will never look the same way again.”

I believe happiness is a choice every day and I loved the inspirational words in the post and wanted to share, hopefully it will make you smile.  – Darla Lindauer
