Former Carl Albert running back David Oku was named to the Doak Walker Award watch list on Thursday.

The Arkansas State senior is one of 63 players on the list for the award given annually to the country’s top running back.

Last season, Oku was a first-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection after rushing for 1,061 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Coming out of high school, Oku was the top-ranked all-purpose back, according to Rivals.com.

As a senior at Carl Albert, he ran for 1,905 yards and 23 touchdowns. He was also named to The Oklahoman‘s All-State team for the second straight season.

Semifinalists for the Doak Walker Award will be announced on Nov. 14 and the finalists on Nov. 25. The winner will be announced on Dec. 12.
