Deal or no deal: Three trade needs for the Thunder

A look at three needs for the Thunder at the trade deadline.

A center: Nenad Krstic has given a gallant effort. But he's not the answer moving forward. Byron Mullens and Cole Aldrich aren't ready to step in right now and do any better. Something has to be done. A low-post scoring center would be great. But there aren't many of those. So a defensive-minded big man is a more realistic target. The Thunder might not reach its full potential until it lands one.

Experience: No more young talent. The Thunder has acquired plenty. The time has come to surround them with a few more experienced players in hopes of making a deeper playoff push. The tricky part, though, is finding a veteran who is good enough to take minutes away from the current mix. Those players, at reasonable prices, aren't readily available.

Shooting: The Thunder still hasn't proven it possesses players who can consistently make perimeter shots. Oklahoma City is shooting just 33 percent from beyond the arc, and defenses are camping out near the painted area essentially daring some of the Thunder's players to fire away. The Thunder's drive-and-kick offense can be great. But not until the team gets some bodies who can finish off plays.
