The transformation of NE 2 in Deep Deuce is taking shape with the rising of the future Aloft Hotel.

The stretch of NE 2 between E.K. Gaylord Boulevard and Walnut Avenue mostly consisted of a sea of abandoned surface parking lots just a few years ago, but is now home to the 2nd Street Lofts, the Clark Building, the Level Urban Apartments and the $18 million Aloft, which is set to open by mid-2013.

Street-level retail will include a Native Roots Market set to open next month in Level at the corner of Walnut and NE 2, and restaurants in the apartment complex and the hotel.
