Board member Danny Barnes, who was on the redistricting committee, said he thinks the plan is a “good compromise,” but made sure to note that he knew not all parents would be pleased with the outcome. Barnes added he cannot make any guarantees, but the schools will work with parents who would like their children to stay where they are.
Robertson said he thinks the committee did a good job researching projected growth in the area, but worries if there will be enough room to accommodate more students in coming years.
Grove Valley is projected to have 523 students next school year, 36 fewer than it has now. But Robertson said it is possible growth could exceed the school's capacity more quickly than expected.
“This will work fine, no doubt,” Robertson said. “It's just a question of how long it will work.”
