Deer Creek sophomore soccer player Lauren Haivala verbally committed to Oklahoma on Tuesday.
Haivala, a midfielder and forward, was the Antlers’ leading scorer last season with 17 goals and three assists.
“She just does whatever it takes to get herself in position to score,” Deer Creek coach Misty Thompson said. “She’s someone you want to see play at that next level. She definitely has what it takes to play at the next level.”
Her biggest performance, though, came in the Class 5A championship game when she scored both of the Antlers’ goals in the 2-1 win against Carl Albert.
“Her work ethic is unreal,” Thompson said. “Teammates, even as a freshman, really respected her as a player.”
