Fundraising efforts at Deer Creek High School will pay a teacher's salary for an entire year at a school that educates homeless children in Oklahoma City.

Positive Tomorrows is a nonprofit organization and accredited elementary school based in Oklahoma City that has been in operation since 1989.

Deer Creek's Wonderful Week of Fundraising in March raised about $53,000 for the organization through selling T-shirts and bracelets and holding events including a talent show, a dodgeball tournament and a black light dance.

Margaret Creighton, director of development at Positive Tomorrows, said she is grateful for the efforts of Deer Creek students.

“We are extremely proud of the students in our community and how they are supporting other students,” she said.

Student Council sponsor Paula Farley said the effort wasn't as fruitful as she and students had hoped, raising a little more than half of previous year's results.
