Deer Creek Schools will hold a runoff election on April 2 to determine who will represent Ward 3 on the board of education.

Despite heavy snow, more than 600 school district residents turned out Tuesday to vote in the election.

None of the candidates received the required majority, meaning Jerrod Roberts and Keri Shipley will face off again in a little more than a month.

Roberts was the leader in Tuesday's election with 260 votes, followed by Shipley with 232 and OU professor Timothy Laubach with 148, according to the Oklahoma County Election Board.

Shipley is the mother of two Deer Creek students and is an active member of the PTO, previously serving as president of the organization.

Roberts is the father of three students and the owner of Flourish Integrative Pharmacy in Oklahoma City.

All registered voters in the district can vote in the runoff, and residents who have not registered have until March 8 to do so. Applications for absentee voting are due to the county election board by March 22.
