Deer Festival in Antlers

Antlers promotes itself as the Deer Capital of the World and on Friday and Saturday the small Pushmataha County town will be holding its annual Deer Festival and Outdoor Show.
Held every year the first weekend of archery deer season, among the events are the annual deer camp chili cook-off, a chainsaw carving contest, wildlife photography contest, a Bassmaster casting kids contest along with exhibits and vendors.
For more information on the event, email antlersdeerfestival@yahoo.com or call the Deer Capital Tourism Association at (580) 298-9933.
Antlers has reason to call itself the Deer Capital of Oklahoma, if not the world. Oklahoma’s top two typical whitetail bucks were killed in Pushmataha County, both in 2008.
