A man accused of shooting his 15-year-old grandson to death because he believed the boy was possessed by the devil was charged Monday in Oklahoma County District Court with murder and four other crimes.

Lochinvar Caldwell Jr., 56, is charged with first-degree murder, assault and battery, kidnapping, indecent exposure and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Late March 21, Del City police received a call of a fight in the street in the 2700 block of Eagle Drive. While en route, they learned that a naked man had forced his way into a neighbor’s home with a girl, according to a search warrant.

After police were able to talk them out of the house, Caldwell’s 17-year-old granddaughter told police that her grandfather had gone crazy earlier in the day, according to the warrant.

She said Caldwell forced her brother, Jaquelin Caldwell, 15, onto a bed in the bedroom, told him he was possessed by the devil and shot him once in the head, according to the probable cause affidavit.

The girl said she spent all day inside the house, 2704 Eagle Drive, with her grandfather and her brother’s body because she was afraid he was going to kill her.
