DEL CITY — Del City Eagles quarterback Terry Wilson provided three touchdowns en route to a 38-18 win over the Lawton MacArthur Highlanders on Friday.
Lawton Mac's Reed Pellerin started the scoring affair with a six-yard touchdown run on the Highlanders' second drive of the game. However, Del City answered and controlled the tempo for the remainder of the contest.
Wilson, who turned in 252 total yards, scored the Eagles' first touchdown of the game on a one-yard quarterback sneak. Del City converted on its two-point conversion and grabbed an 8-7 lead.
Wilson helped extend the lead in the second quarter with a 35-yard touchdown pass to Warren. Lawton Mac blocked John Lopez's PAT attempt, but still trailed 14-7.
Del City's attack continued into the second half after running back Anthony Mason scampered for a three-yard score. Mason accounted for 172 of the Eagles' 360 rushing yards. After a second-straight blocked PAT, Del City led 20-7.
Lawton Mac's Chris Pauley drilled a 24-yard field goal to cut Del City's lead to 20-10, but the Eagles continued to click offensively.
The Eagles answered with an 80-yard scoring drive capped by a 32-yard touchdown run from Wilson, his third score of the game. Del City failed on the two-point conversion, but extended its lead to 26-10.
Del City's Carnez Brown added a five-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter that extended the Eagles' lead to 32-10. Brown rushed for 100 yards on 10 carries.
Lawton Mac's Will Collins rushed for a eight-yard touchdown on their final drive. However, Del City capped its 38-18 win with a two-yard touchdown run from Mason.
“Overall, we played really well,” Del City coach Nick Warehime said after the game. “It was a total team effort. Wilson came along tonight and our backfield had a great game. We came close to putting it all together tonight.”
Del City moves to 2-2 after the win and will travel to Ardmore on Oct. 4. Lawton Mac moves to 2-2 with the loss and will host the Noble Bears next week.
