Regarding “Support, protest is voiced for Chick-fil-A stand in area” (Business, Aug. 1): I'm amazed by the hypocrisy and selective outrage by liberals regarding Don Cathy's affirming the biblical definition of the family unit during an interview. Nowhere in the interview does Cathy allude to homosexuals not having rights. I noticed that Chick-fil-A isn't being accused of discrimination, either in hiring or in service. This franchise is being targeted by Democratic activists to pun-ish Cathy for his religious and social beliefs.
I'm concerned about the totalitarian behavior among the liberal activists and politicians. They've shown that there's a double standard with this whole idea of being “tolerant.” For example, the Rev. Scott Hamilton said he respects everyone's right to say what they want to say, then he turns around and says the problem isn't just what Cathy said but what he's done in giving millions of dollars to Christian groups like Focus on the Family and Exodus.
Activists encouraged people to kiss a member of the same sex at a local Chick-fil-A. I'll take them seriously if they'd do these same protests in Muslim countries. Surely there won't be reprisals, right?
